Garret is building space solutions.
i build things that have to work.
i think engineering makes the world a better place.
i think the interesting problems are the real-world problems.
i think modeling and simulations are only useful to a point.
i think preparation is key.
i think the best moment is when your solution breaks out of the target industry.
i want to work on the things that inspire.

The short version
Engineering physics by training, mission software by habit, and a persistent interest in things that have to survive their environment.
I'm a Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering student at McMaster, currently doing electrical, instrumentation, and controls work at Kinectrics — which mostly means reviewing the drawings, calculations, and simulations that keep Ontario's nuclear plants running.
The rest of my time goes to the McMaster Interdisciplinary Satellite Team, where I lead the software behind mission control for PRESET: the scheduler that issues timed commands, the schemas that keep telemetry honest, and the ground tooling an operator actually has to use during a four-minute pass.
In between there has been electrolysis cell design at Hydrogen Optimized, two semesters as a teaching assistant, and a hyperbaric shelter for Mars EVAs that took our team to the Space Generation Congress in Sydney.
